INTRODUCING THE COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP INVENTORY (CLI)

Completing the CLI

The Collective Leadership Inventory (CLI) stands on its own (although it can be used in conjunction with the Creative Team Leadership Inventory (CTLI) and the Individual Transform Leadership Inventory (ITLI)

In the CLI we ask for respondents and participants perceptions in relation to partnership working based on their own team, their organisation and the wider partnership (networks). The CLI (the content of which follows) is available for completion online (or through interactive PDFs if requested). The design is aimed at simple completion but to allow substantial data to be collected. The seven collective leadership values and descriptions are illustrated below (and can be explored further).

Grading the CLI

Each value is supported by a range of either four or five behavioural statements for which only one grade should be selected. This ranges from [1]:

  • ‘ 1’ (no evidence); to

  • ‘12’ (total evidence).

Each behavioural statement has a descriptor to aid assessment.

[1] - The range of ‘12’ aligns to the concept of 6 positive and 6 negative degrees of freedom and when calculated based on 30 dimensions (equating to 30 geometric faces), this results in a 360° collective assessment. Remember, the aim is not to achieve a full 360 grading; it is more about achieving equilibrium [INCLUDE LINK]. This will be evident in the case studies that follow an outline of the components of the CLI. If you wish to read more click here.
